Prayer Shawl Ministries
The prayer Shawl Ministry knits or crochets shawls that are then passed along to those in need of comfort or solace. In 2004 a ministry began here in Chewelah. This ecumenical group (from St. Mary of the Rosary, St. Paul Lutheran, and United Church of Christ) has created and presented over 400 shawls.
The shawls take several weeks to complete so the seven regular knitters and others who contribute shawls crafted at home are kept busy. If you would like to participate, the group meets twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesdays. Cash donations for yarn are always appreciated since it costs approximately $20 per shawl. For those who want to knit or crochet a shawl but can’t afford the yarn, there is some stock available. Consider joining this great ministry.

The ladies of Good Intent work continuously on fund raising projects. They design events and activities to fund kitchen supplies, the NW Harvest Lunch, furnish These Days Devotionals, funeral lunches, and other special gifts as needed.
Often they provide some special fund raisers like the Bowl and Roll dinner, NCC Women’s Luncheon and candle sale, a cookie sale, and pennies for projects.
They funded the new dishwasher and its installation. Please contact the church for additional information and consider becoming a part of our wonderful Good Intent activities. Looking forward to seeing all the ladies of the church.
Your dollar donations will be greatly appreciated. The Good Neighbor members will put your dollars to work in The Pantry. Would you like to help?
We provide food all year round in our pantry and we give special collections at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. If you would like to receive a special food basket or know someone in need, contact Cheri Freeman or Sara via the church office. Phone: 509-935-8046 or email us at the UCC office: firstname.lastname@example.org.

Music and Special Performances
You are invited to enjoy music with the congregation
The choir provides vocal and instrumental music for Sunday worship and other services. This dedicated group of singers spend hours at practice and learning new songs. We give special thanks to the Choir Director, Ron Peterson, for his multifaceted training and organization. Ron plays the piano and organ, directs the choir and sings with the choir. You are invited to join the choir or to provide special music for those times when needed. “Summer Choir” sings the first Sunday in the summer months and is open to anyone wishing to sing.
Mission and Stewardship
“God will meet your need with generosity exceeding yours . . . ” (Philippians 4:19)
The Mission and Stewardship Ministry encourages the joy of giving. UCC members participate in special offerings each year. One Great Hour of Sharing, Neighbors in Need, Strengthen the Church, The Christmas Fund and Our Churches Wider Mission. Locally, UCC supports Chewelah Food Bank the food pantry.
Youth are ready for more. They ask bigger, more complex questions about God, themselves, and the world around them. They’re ready to take on more responsibility in the life of the church, whether that be in worship, outreach programs, or special events. And they’re eager for larger adventures, whether that be on camping trips to remote destinations or just having fun together.
We strive to be faithful companions with our middle school and high school youth as they discover their journey of faith.
Long Term Care Ministry
Chewelah UCC ministers to the clients at Long Term Care on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 4 pm by siging hymns with and for the patients. Feel most welcome to come and share this enjoyable activity as one does not need to be a professional singer to bring music and joy into the lives of these beloved elders
These are things that we are doing for the community and to support the community. We host the Salvation Army social worker every Tuesday. She provides services to those who need them. The TASTY (A Service for school ages children and families to receive supplemental food from the middle of July to the end of August). AA meetings, Mindfulness Group, and Girl Scout meetings.
